How Does the Sodium-Ion Battery Work?

The sodium-ion battery works in basically the same way as a lithium-ion battery – except that instead of lithium ions (Li⁺), sodium ions (Na⁺) are displaced between the electrodes:

In short: energy is stored by the reversible movement of sodium ions between two electrodes.

Sparky’s Tip

Sodium is Everywhere! Unlike lithium, which has to be extracted in remote salt deserts, sodium is available in almost unlimited quantities – even in seawater! This not only makes our batteries more environmentally friendly, but also significantly cheaper to manufacture.

With natbatt, you are relying on a technology that will remain available and affordable not only today, but also tomorrow. No dependence on critical raw materials, no ethical concerns – just pure, sustainable energy!
